Cameron continues and wins the game
The horror film, which for me was "Alien", got a great sequel. The xenomorph universe has been replenished with a great story, in which the main character has also returned. The film was shot by another director, the genre changed, the world was revealed from a new angle, and the intensity of the action became a couple of levels higher.
The picture as a whole has changed its focus. If the first film scared the viewer with an extraterrestrial unknown organism that systematically destroyed people on the ship, then the second film raised the stakes, showed the genesis of xenomorphs and demonstrated how interesting a fight between an elite squad of commandos and ruthless alien creatures can be. All this complemented the thriller with vivid action scenes, which undoubtedly benefited the project.
It was nice to see Sigourney Weaver in the lead role again. She is convincing, trying to explain to lawmakers that the alien race is deadly, fighting for her life, the life of the Marines and, of course, the little girl she recently met. Emotions are conveyed simply gorgeous. This is one of the best roles of an actress in my opinion.
Other famous actors also appear in the film. Michael Bean, Bill Paxton, Lance Henrikson — they are remembered for their roles. Bean is a brave soldier. In principle, such roles are suitable for him, because he knows how to win over himself, it is written on his face that he is a purely positive hero-savior. Paxton appears in the image of a bad soldier, who in fact turns out to be a smudge at all. Bill was so successful in this image that to this day the actor causes me some negativity, reminding me of that hero. Henrikson appears as an android who helps people. An insightful machine that teaches viewers that human life is very important.
The picture of the film is quite gloomy. It is understandable. The action simply takes place on a distant planet under the cover of night. But this atmosphere of darkness, wind, horror sneaks the viewer. It seems as if there is no way out. And for many, it turns out that way. I really liked the xenomorphs. In this film, we were shown them in all their glory, approaching the disclosure of the image of strangers with all responsibility. From the technical side, everything was created perfectly.
The intensity of the action results in the expected final confrontation between the man and the Queen. A very spectacular fight, which you expect the whole movie, it really is an ornament of "Aliens". A life-and-death struggle. A fight that was staged with attention to all the details.
The result is for me. Sequels tend to be inferior to the originals. This is a kind of movie rule. You can count on your fingers those paintings that have become more successful and better than their predecessors. So I boldly refer "Aliens" to such films. It is richer, more watchable, deeper, more informative. James Cameron and his team managed to present a legendary movie, which still looks very decent today.
