Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a superhero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.

The series about the "Mascot" of the Avengers or how Marvel says goodbye to Hawkeye Jeremy Renner and his character Hawkeye appear at the very beginning of the Avengers saga. Back then, there wasn't even a team of Earth's Greatest Heroes, but Clint Barton's performance took place. As the past decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has shown, the presence of such a team member was very welcome in any of his appearances on the screen. Barton really became one of the connecting links of the franchise, a kind of glue in the good sense of the word, without which the team could hardly exist. The Infinity saga has passed, the era of the classic Avengers has come to an end, each main character has already completed his arc, except for some, and everything seems to be clear about them. But what is the role of Hawkeye in the new world? What can he now give to humanity, which has seen unprecedented changes in the surrounding reality? After all, he is just a man who has only a bow and arrow from his weapon ("To hear it, it's nonsense" — the words of Barton himself in an address to Wanda Maximoff in "Age of Ultron"). The solo series just allows you to explore the world of Hawkeye, devoting enough hours to his story, in which the viewer will understand how the past years have been given to him, what is in the soul and in the heart of the character. For me, the most memorable moment in the series was the very trip to the musical of Hawkeye and his family, where he watches the story of the Avengers being demonstrated in a colorful show and performing brave songs. Renner's game is great. With just a silent, hard look at the stage, the actor conveys the complexity of the perception of what is happening. It was once a battle in New York. Bloody, cruel, deadly for everyone. This is a disaster, a horror that has claimed thousands of lives. But now this battle has been turned into a show where costumed actors and actresses dance to loud dynamic music and sing of that horror. In addition, it is impossible not to notice how Clint looks at the Black Widow, who is represented on stage by the singer. It's like my ears are popping, Clint, and I are immersed with him in memories of Natasha, the one who sacrificed herself for the sake of the Soul stone and the salvation of the universe. Scarlett Johansson's character was a close friend of Hawkeye, he takes her loss extremely hard, probably like no one else. For me, Black Widow is a favorite character in the Film Universe, a kind of friend whom I know in absentia, for whom I always worry more than for the rest. That's probably why the scene with the silent Barton in the musical is so memorable, it gives you goosebumps. True friendship was there, but it's gone. Clint was left with a broken heart. He is alive, he is with his family, but Natasha is not. And this burden of sadness and remorse remains with him forever. But life goes on, and Clint Barton is once again faced with a situation that requires his intervention. The series demonstrates how a Hawkeye who has seen the sights will be true to himself and will not leave a new acquaintance Kate Bishop in trouble. The plot is peculiar, it looks like a serial, where the scale of what is happening is noticeably different from full-length projects. But that's what the series is for. It is more important to show the relationship of the characters here, because throughout each episode the viewer sees mutual changes in the main protagonists. Clint teaches Kate, and the girl, in turn, gives food for thought to her age mentor. And both characters evolve, understand some things for themselves in a completely different way. The series is replete with the introduction of new heroes and villains, showcases those whom we have already seen before, perfectly twisting the story arcs of each character into an interesting tangle. Everyone will have to untangle it closer to the final of the project, but this is done without any problems and even in some kind of lightweight form. Again, the final dialogue between Clint and Elena Belova, who appears in the project, is memorable, which shows the heartbreaking pain of the heroes from the loss that Johansson's heroine has become. Marvel is good because everything in the proposed Universe is interconnected, and past events can even resonate years later in the hearts of both the heroes of the project and in the minds of the audience. The series is well staged. There is enough action and dialogue here, some elements are shown from unusual angles. For example, one of the chase scenes is shown directly from inside the car of the main characters, and the viewer has the opportunity to see what is happening, literally being in the back seat of a speeding car and turning his head 360 degrees. "Hawkeye" is a great farewell to Clint Barton and a representation of his legacy. The hero, in my opinion, gave the world everything he could, survived many moments, created his legacy. Now he deserves to retire, giving way to the young. It will always be nice to see him as a cameo in future projects, if this happens, but the character is fully revealed and really earned the right to stand at the origins of the creation of a team of heroes, becoming one of the first Avengers, those who, without sparing themselves, fought for the human world. 8 out of 10
