James Bond takes revenge James Bond has been updated. The audience has a new face, a new actor. The previous film with Timothy Dalton in the role of 007 turned out to be an order of magnitude better and fresher than the previous pictures. Now it was necessary to consolidate the success. This is what a new painting called "License to Kill" is trying to do. He does it, in my opinion, with great success. It's the end of the 1980s. Relations between the West and the USSR seem to have improved, which inevitably leads to a decrease in tension and a certain loss of relevance of the confrontation between the two forces. This is also noticeable in the film, where the main theme of the work is the problem of drug trafficking. The United States has just conducted a successful operation against Panamanian leader and drug trafficker Manuel Noriega. The Bond film takes this topical theme for its narrative. The main villains in this movie were drug dealers. The theme of the film is Agent 007's revenge for his loved ones. From the very beginning of the picture, we see how the screenwriters are ready to raise the stakes, literally plunging James Bond into a hurricane of events. The film takes on gloominess, but then, by the way, they will say that the picture turned out to be excessively cruel and repulsive to the audience from the franchise. As for me, this is a great picture that is ready to show the life and revenge of a British spy without embellishment. The usual Bond plot will not be presented here. The viewer is already used to and even ready for the fact that the English agent will be sent on a new mission against world evil to a couple of exotic countries, along the way he will seduce as many beauties, listen to the grandiose plans of the main antagonist, who in no case will dare to immediately kill Bond, and then James will definitely win. In the same film, literally everything around will be against the British. Time after time, he will lose support, being left alone with his revenge. And Dalton smartly conveys the nerve of what is happening on the screen, thereby making his Bond even more human. Agent 007 appears exactly like a human being. With its pros and cons, the ability to be angry and reckless, he is no stranger to human problems, and decisions made without professional analytics can lead to the failure of his plan. After watching the film, I concluded for myself that in fact this is not a classic Bond film, but a plot that breaks out of the canon, which could well be suitable for an ordinary action movie, where instead of Bond there was another hero. But it's even good. This approach successfully distinguishes the picture among its equals from the series about Agent 007, as if raising it above others. And even though the creators fit into the PG-13 rating, which made it possible to show the picture to a young audience, in my opinion, this is one of the most cruel and harsh stories about a famous British intelligence agent. The film features several famous actors who are familiar to the audience of my generation. And they all did a great job with their roles. Robert Davi, Talisa Soto, Benicio Del Toro, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and many others — they all do an excellent job of making this picture spectacular and memorable. Separately, I would like to note that the permanent agent Q, played by Desmond Llewelyn, took an active part in the development of the plot, and was not an episodic hero, as before. The film came out very strong for me personally. James Bond has become even better. He appears as a real person, and not a familiar machine for eliminating enemies. Bond knows how to suffer, as well as how to take revenge masterfully. And this picture will perfectly demonstrate that the franchise is alive. Sadly, it took six years after "License to Kill" before the new part of Bond was released. Many say that these are the consequences of such a tough movie with Timothy Dalton, which forced the creators to rethink the franchise and try to reboot it with a new actor. Dalton was replaced by Brosnan, who is also good in this role. However, I still have the feeling that Timothy did not say all that he could have said in the role of 007. Well. It happens. I just want to thank him and the entire team that participated in the creation of this strong film, which rightfully occupies an honorable place in the list of the most successful James Bond projects. 8 out of 10
