The new face of the legendary British agent The year is 1987. In many ways, a landmark year for Bond. It's been 25 years since Sean Connery first appeared and shone on the big screen in "Dr. Know." A kind of important point in the film adaptations of the works of Ian Fleming. The new film becomes the fifteenth in the series. It's also an anniversary. In addition, the main actor was replaced. Finally. No. I respect the work of Roger Moore, he is a brilliant specialist in the world of cinema and his own particular incarnation of Agent 007, but his character is frankly outdated and has remained somewhere in the past. The new Bond is not like the previous one. And that's nice. And Timothy Dalton became the new face of the British fighter for justice. An interesting story is connected with Dalton's name, which I spied in one of the many documentaries about Bond. The actor was already offered the role of a famous British spy in 1968. But then he refused himself, because he did not believe that he could approach the level of Sean Connery, who is still considered by many to be the best Bond, and also because of his young age at that time (22 years old). But history made an interesting curtsy, and now, almost two decades later, the mature and experienced Timothy Dalton has become the new face of Bond. His James Bond attracts attention in a new picture. This is a completely different character. Agent 007 is serious, overly dangerous, tough and uncompromising, result-oriented and necessarily charismatic. Dalton undoubtedly breathed new life into the hero thanks to his talent. It is impossible not to note the accompanying setting of the picture. The screenwriters place Bond in the modern world, where the speed of narration is gaining momentum, the plot is much more interesting, the production tries to bring the audience closer to the realistic world of the second half of the 1980s. The plot is quite interesting. He, like everything in this picture, is replete with non-trivial solutions. James Bond will visit many locations again, but this movement of his is quite interestingly presented with plot twists, which, by the way, abound in the picture. I also liked the love line of a British intelligence agent here. Roger Moore's adventures were frankly frustrating when the image of an English spy was accompanied by such a lovelace approach, in which the already middle-aged Bond easily wooed women. The girls for him and the plot acted as a kind of thing that must necessarily be in the plot. And it was of little interest and sometimes annoying. Bond's love line from Dalton is spelled out very well. Throughout the whole picture, we observe how the feelings of the main characters towards each other evolve "humanly". This greatly enlivens the film itself. Mariam d'Abo, who played the role of Kara, coped with the task perfectly, fully revealing her character. John Rhys-Davies is also remembered. His general Pushkin (yes, Pushkin has now been added to General Gogol) evokes sympathy. The man is not shown here as the usual Soviet opponent of the main Western hero. Pushkin is well spelled out, and his arch was created with a certain approach, which eventually allowed us to empathize with the hero and even to some extent "root" for the man. An attempt to show the interesting Miss Moneypenny was unsuccessful. There are new faces on the screen, and the characters seem to be old. But due to the short screen time of actress Carolyn Bliss and the complete lack of chemistry between the characters, this Miss Moneypenny is not even remembered. As, however, the main antagonist of the picture. But Necros performed by Andreas Wisniewski turned out to be very charismatic. The villain looks dangerous, unpredictable and acts as a worthy rival to James Bond. I really liked this movie and the new 007 agent. The franchise seemed relieved. The film has become a cool modern action movie. Not without its usual flaws, but the picture really turned out to be strong and memorable. A lot has played to the benefit here. First of all, the new actor Timothy Dalton. On the other hand, a high-quality script was written for the film with an eye to the franchise's past, but taking into account the trends of the late 1980s. This allowed this film to take a firm place in my personal top James Bond films. 8 out of 10
