Yippy-kai-hey, motherfucker By this phrase alone, you can immediately recall with a smile the good old John McLane of the NYPD. A cheerful, sarcastically cheerful, sometimes sad, but necessarily brave cop with a bunch of his own problems managed to become the hero of an entire generation thanks to the special charisma and excellent performance of Bruce Willis. Today I remember one of the first famous roles of one of the pillars of the late eighties action movies with sadness. Unfortunately, it became known relatively recently that Willis developed an age-related brain disease that does not allow him to play in movies. You need to realize that you will not be able to see new roles from the master of action movies, but this is an occasion to recall the good hero McLane, who was given to us by old Bruce. The role in the first "Die Hard" dramatically changed the role of the actor, who had previously been clearly associated with comedic roles. The most famous at that time was the game in the TV series "Moonlight Detective Agency". However, the role of an ordinary cop with a pile of family and personal problems, which Bruce Willis tried on himself, turned the man into one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood. But what was the John McLane phenomenon? What made him so memorable to the audience that he became a favorite? In my opinion, this is an extraordinary character, whom the viewer of the 1970s-1980s action films is not used to seeing on screens. As a rule, the police heroes presented themselves as such professionals in their field, able to deal with the villains one or two at a time. Bruce Willis also demonstrates a completely atypical character on the screen. His MacLaine is an unusually complex character with problems within the family. His marriage is bursting at the seams when his wife and children move to another coast for work, and John refuses to support his wife and remains in New York. It is difficult to fully understand what motivates the hero when he puts his job above the family good. Whether it's really his "career" as a cop in multimillion-dollar New York, or his unwillingness to accept his wife's success in his career, but the man remains in the same place, letting his wife Holly go to Los Angeles. The meeting on Christmas Day at a holiday in the Nakatomiya skyscraper, which will then be captured, initially brings even more confusion to the already strained relationship of the spouses. However, subsequent events push family difficulties into the background, and the general line of the narrative becomes the terrorist act itself, where a lot of villains decide to seize an entire building. The painting is beautifully staged. John McTiernan has already proved himself to be a good director, having directed the hitherto famous Predator a year earlier. Now he offers a great action movie in urban realities, clearly following the storyline, which should be intense throughout the picture. But the success of the film is not limited only to the work of the director. Everyone has done their best here: the screenwriters, the cameraman, the editor, others and of course the cast. Among the numerous villains, several iconic and memorable characters stand out at once. But all of them, of course, are inferior to the true decoration of this tape — Alan Rickman's hero named Hans Gruber. The leader of the terrorists immediately and without delay shows himself as a man of his word, ready to clearly follow the set plan. But the viewer certainly understands that McLane will be a thorn in the side of this story. The picture gradually reveals to us an interesting confrontation, where a true and such a real average cop is trying to deal with villains, not only muscles and a stone face "aka" Schwarzenegger in a conditional "Commando". McLane takes it by surprise at first, shows his wit, his skills to act like a person in really real conditions. This is what captivates in the film, makes the story real and so interesting. Alan Rickman expertly acts on the screen. His villain is multifaceted and well-revealed. The script allows you to play a character, revealing the full range of possibilities of the famous Rickman. His character is dangerous and interesting, has his own way of looking at things, and is ready to go to the end. The film is sure to please with high-quality shootings, a lot of explosions, and good-quality sarcastic humor from the hero Willis, whose jokes and statements will be divided into quotes. In the couple of hours that the film continues, you can get into this interesting story and the evolution of the relationship between husband and wife, who were so well played by Bruce Willis and Bonnie Bedelia. During the events that have occurred, they will finally understand how important it is to be together, to become one family again, leaving behind strife and resentment. "Die Hard" will be remembered for a long time, subsequently becoming a classic action movie, which will be reviewed more than once by true admirers of the work of Willis and Rickman. 9 out of 10
