Is the world of machines real?
The movie "Zoe" attracted me first by the cast. I saw Leia Seydoux for the first time in the movie "The Life of Adele". She showed herself great there, which is what I remember for me. Ewan McGregor is also a famous name. That's why I decided to see what the plot is. He also turned out to be intriguing. And I did not lose.
The theme of the film is a theme that necessarily evokes emotions, a desire to reflect, to discuss. This is often a winning option for the film to be what is called "in the language". They will discuss it, they will express their thoughts. And every viewer will definitely put himself in the place of the main characters.
The picture shows us a world where synthetic robots exist. And the project is designed to select ideal couples for people. However, soon the plot goes away to the lab workers and developers Zoe and Cole. And their relationship is already at the center of the plot. The film asks the audience questions through the prism of the characters. How would they live in such a world, would they consider robots to be people, would they be ready to choose someone as a couple who would never deceive, betray, listen, support in difficult times. And even hypothetically imagining such a world, you can't give a clear answer. Would you be able to build a relationship with your beloved and kindred soul, even if she is a robot. Your head starts to spin when you realize that a robot can't have a soul. Or can it? Everyone decides for himself.
The actors are strong as always. Their whole game is imbued with sincerity, some kind of warmth, you follow them without looking away and wanting to understand how they will eventually act with each other. After all, Zoey is ready for a relationship, she has fallen in love and does not hide it, but Cole seems to be struggling with rationality of thinking, realizing that their relationship is impossible. And only after some time and difficult life situations does he realize that Zoey is the only one that he needs and that he has practically lost.
Very catchy music. Throughout the film, deep and sweeping melodies literally immerse the viewer in this unique atmosphere of something surreal and at the same time familiar. Music allows you to realize that there is fiction in the picture, but the world here is still built around people, human relationships.
The picture does not give out anything special. A couple of beautiful frames are remembered, which is accompanied by a great melody, but after watching you realize that everything in the film was created with care and a desire to convey your idea correctly. I think the director managed to convey to the viewer exactly what he wanted.
"Zoe" is a great example of a good drama about artificial intelligence, about the place of machines in our near future. After all, one way or another we will come to something similar in society. And then in reality we will have to decide who robots are for us: faceless machines or a new stage of evolution. Maybe someone will really find their happiness with them.
