An unexpected thriller At first, you can't say that the film "Identification" will become something extraordinary in terms of the plot. You expect to see a thriller about a certain serial killer who ends up in a motel, like the rest of the participants in the events, but by the end of the picture you sit and think how interesting everything that you just saw is presented. "Identification" has assembled an excellent cast. Every name is known, the acting is very decent. Ray Liotta, Amanda Peet, John Cusack, John Hawkes, Alfred Molina. Everyone is talented and chosen for the film is perfect. Each of them has his own role. Cusack is trying to figure everything out, Hawkes seems to be slightly out of his mind, Liotta is too twitchy. The dialogues are spelled out perfectly. They literally immerse you in this atmosphere of eerie solitude, where there is no one around and only a silent killer nearby. The picture is complemented by a typical night shower, which cuts off the entire team from the outside world and forces them to try to cope with the situation on their own. The plot is quite complicated, has a number of so-called flashbacks, which are designed to shed light on the events and help viewers understand how what happened happened. Finally, when you look at the clock (yes, yes, I looked, realizing that it was time to show us the killer), then suddenly the dead disappear, and there are a lot of questions again. And then comes the realization that you are not watching a typical thriller, the authors went much further, forcing the audience to imagine what kind of mysticism is possible. Few films can boast of twists. And even less successful twists. But the "Identification" made me sit through all the credits with my mouth open and questions in my head: "Well, how is this so?" In my opinion, this is an excellent proof that the movie succeeded. James Mangold put on an excellent picture, which managed to successfully change the genre right during the narration, left some understatement, was remembered for positive emotions. "Identification" is an excellent detective and thriller with a good portion of mystical moments. The film pleases the viewer, not allowing to distract from what is happening on the screen creepy narrative. 8 out of 10
