The Fall of man and the birth of a monster
"Star Wars" is certainly a cult event that has been stirring people's minds for decades, has a huge army of fans, which is replenished with new "adherents". It is difficult to overestimate the impact of this franchise on people's minds and popular culture. It is a splendor of colors, philosophical ideas, epic battles on planets and in space. Here everyone will find something interesting for himself, something that will touch him to the depths of his soul.
For me, "Revenge of the Sith" is my favorite episode. I remember how yesterday I found myself in the cinema and watched with bated breath as the Republic came to its final. I think this episode is the darkest. He presented the viewer with a lot of experiences, fights, carnage and, finally, revealed everything that is needed to complete the story of the appearance of Darth Vader and the Empire.
First of all, I would like to mention the actors' performance. Oh, how much I've read and heard about the featureless performance of Hayden Christensen and everyone else in the films of this franchise, I can't even count. However, I have a completely different opinion. In my opinion, it was in this film that the actors' acting reached the highest level. Each of the characters is experiencing pain, and their emotions are perfectly shown by the actors. I will never forget those eyes of Anakin Skywalker when he faced Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar. How yesterday's padawan looked at his teacher. I didn't think there could be so much hatred in a look. Anakin's look is a heartbreaking action for me personally. The young man was so confused in this life, caught between greedy legislators who tried to get their own benefit from the events taking place in the picture with his hands. It's like he's between a rock and a hard place. Anakin was simply crushed by the political system, which he never managed to understand.
This film is a visual aid of how politics breaks people's destinies. She can walk around the rink and not notice those who are fighting for their ideals. And let everything happen rapidly in the compressed format of one film, the authors have successfully prepared us for this denouement by laying the seeds in the previous films of the series. The greedy Emperor has been perfectly hiding all these decades, observing and even controlling the vector of the Galaxy's development from behind the scenes, and in the end brought everything to what he wanted. The Republic fell, the Empire was born. Democracy died to the sound of loud applause. It probably wasn't there. Democracy is generally a relative concept. It's different for everyone. So Lucas shows that what is initially seen — a prosperous and advanced society — in fact, it turned out to be on the edge of the abyss, to which it was pushed not only by the villain-Emperor, but also by itself. The system turned out to be ineffective, and bureaucrats and officials obviously lived to please themselves, allowing the millennial Republic to wither first, then get bogged down in strife, and eventually drown in a war that was carefully planned.
There are a lot of strong moments in the film. And many turns seem to clearly converge with historical moments of our world. I would especially like to mention the heartbreaking scene with the execution of "Order 66". It reminded me a lot of a couple of things. The events are quite similar to how the Templar Order fell and the nights of long knives were held in Hitler's Germany in 1934. Well, Sidious's rise to power in general seems to repeat the history of Hitler's formation or the appearance of the Roman Empire in place of the republic. And all this, as in reality, happens under the well-known slogans of all dictators, who say that all changes are made for the benefit of society, although in fact, freedom perishes this way.
The film, like the previous ones, is visually beautiful. The use of darker tones in everything is noticeable: clothes, surrounding rooms, and even planets. Special effects allow you to feel the realism of what is happening. Lightsaber fights are staged perfectly. You watch them as if mesmerized. The battles of armies, the presentation of armed equipment, mass scenes — it feels like Lucas has been going to this finale for a long time and, finally, with due responsibility, shows us the worlds that are bogged down in the war.
The denouement of the Clone Wars was stunning. By the end of the film, you feel empty, realizing that many of the characters will not return, because you have already seen the future in past episodes. The story ends. This story. Here and now. Its finale is tragic. Even knowing that he will be like that, you still feel broken. This film is so very impressive.
But in the end, where we see two familiar suns and sand, and a familiar melody is playing behind the scenes, you suddenly realize that after a couple of decades the world will still rise up and be able to throw off the yoke of the terrible Emperor. However, the events that occurred in this Episode will forever remain a bleeding wound on the hearts of all fans of this Universe.
