Human hunting
An ordinary person, a kindergarten teacher who lives a quiet life and tries to establish communication with his own son. This is the hero of the excellent actor Mads Michelsen, who appears before the audience on the screen. Everything seems to be fine, life begins to turn from a dark stripe to a light one, but an event occurs that radically changes the life of the hero. And, it seems, for life. This change occurs gradually, but with increasing speed. Everything a man had suddenly turns to dust.
The creators of the picture raise an acute social issue. The question of trusting a person if he was accused of something illegal. How many times in the modern world have we seen such situations when, simply after an accusation, all doors are closed in front of a person. And it seems that people don't even need proof anymore. They believe, agree with this accusation in advance, immediately label it. But what about the fact that a person is not guilty until proven guilty? From the outside it seems terrible and ridiculous, but sometimes no one needs this proof. The opinion of the person has already changed, he has become "bad".
So the quiet educator, the hero of Mikelsen Lucas, almost immediately loses friends and comrades who went hunting together with him yesterday. Now Lucas himself has become like a beast that is cornered.
There is an accusation. According to the information received, Lucas broke the law. The trial begins. But why does everyone immediately turn away from a person? Why do they immediately believe the applicant? There are so many questions that are difficult to answer. The most important of them, and how would you react yourself if you found out about the accusation of your friend or even a loved one of child molestation? That's where everyone really thinks. Society is a complicated thing, and each specific situation is unique and unpredictable.
I really liked the work of all the actors. The film is created in such a way that there is no thought of excessive affectation, pathos, or beauty, which is often seen in the creations of Hollywood. European cinema looks more real in this regard. This is neither bad nor good. It's just a feature. But such a feature in this picture just captivates with realism.
The film allows us to remember that a person is quite the same animal, a predator that lurks somewhere inside each of us, overgrown with social roles and social norms. But once you get started, a person can remember his instincts and start a real hunt for his own kind, considering him guilty in advance of what he was accused of. Even if it is false.
The story is created in such a way, and the characters are so real and ordinary people that each viewer can well imagine his social circle, see how a similar situation in his society can turn out. And when you suddenly ask yourself this question, you get scared, because you realize that many may well react the same way as the characters in the film. All friendships will fall, everyone can turn away from you. And the point here is not in trust and bonds that have been created over the years, but in the fact that a person is unpredictable in himself.
The movie is great. He moves steadily and slowly, thereby only making the atmosphere more oppressive. The viewer feels the whole situation on himself, and in the final he will definitely remain with many questions to himself, having well understood the characters of the picture.
"The Hunt" is a very strong drama, a film that will not leave anyone indifferent, will be remembered for its history, and, most importantly, I hope, will make people think whether they can not hang labels on others in advance if a person's guilt is not proven.
