Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action-adventure game set in Night City, a sprawling metropolis driven by power, glamour, and body modification. Players assume the role of V, a mercenary outlaw in pursuit of a unique implant that holds the key to immortality. The game allows extensive customization of cyberware, skills, and playstyle. Choices made throughout the journey influence both the narrative and the world.

In 2077, following an economic collapse sometime during the early 21st century, the United States is forced to rely on large corporations to survive. These corporations deal in a wide range of areas, such as weapons, robotics, cybernetics, pharmaceuticals, communications and biotechnology, and many of these companies operate above the law. The world in between is where decadence, sex and pop culture mix with violent crime, extreme poverty and the unattainable promise of the American Dream. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw deeply embedded in the crime-ridden city of Night City, going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality.

Life on the Edge in Night City I only got to this game fairly recently. I learned about all its launch problems only after I’d already played it — and realized how lucky I was to dive in four years after release. Everything has its time. The launch came and went, the game was fixed, and the issues were gone. And I found myself in the world of "Cyberpunk" at exactly the moment in my life when I needed it. The stars aligned, I think. I’m genuinely grateful to fate that it turned out this way, and now I can easily and without hesitation answer the question of what my favorite game is. Its name is "Cyberpunk 2077". This isn’t just a game. It’s an experience, a memory that refuses to fade even months after finishing it. For me personally, it was a true digital journey where I didn’t just control a character — I lived their life, step by step, in a cruel yet mesmerizing world of the future. The story of "Cyberpunk 2077" is one of survival, choice, and the price one must pay for a dream in the world of tomorrow. You play as V — a customizable protagonist, male or female — striving to carve out a place under Night City’s neon sun. V is a mercenary, willing to do almost anything for money, fame, and freedom. But fate quickly throws them into something far more serious: inside the protagonist lies something that begins to change not only their body, but also their mind. From that moment begins a journey through every corner of the metropolis — from the corporations’ glittering skyscrapers to the slums where only strength and connections matter. Along the way, you meet all sorts of people: criminals, corpos, fighters — each with their own truth, goals, and view of life. Some become enemies, others friends, and some turn into something more. Together, all of this makes the story deeply personal. The narrative unfolds nonlinearly. How you conduct conversations, what choices you make, and whom you decide to support all influence how the story develops — and ultimately, how it ends. This isn’t just a tale of a high-tech future; it’s a story of a person standing face-to-face with an existential crisis. You’re not just watching events play out — you’re living them. And that’s the true strength of the story. The narrative of "Cyberpunk 2077" is surprisingly original and genuinely captivating. There are no tired clichés or predictable twists. It’s written in such a way that you constantly want to know what comes next. The dialogues, the scenes, the fates of the characters — everything is tied to emotion, choice, and a brilliantly delivered plot. I truly cared for the protagonist, worried about their friends, and wrestled with the weight of my decisions. The game leads you from start to finish with such confidence and mastery that, when you finally reach one of the possible endings, all you can do is sit in silence for a while and process it. And the world… this world is a masterpiece on its own. Both beautiful and terrifying. It’s built and realized on screen so vividly that you can’t stop watching it. It’s contradictory: bright yet repulsive. Stunning futuristic landscapes of Night City sit side by side with poverty, cruelty, and utter indifference. It’s a city where technology coexists with moral decay. Augmented people, cyberware, futuristic cars, neon signs — everything is cool and stylish, but you constantly feel that one wrong step and you’re dead. This world breathes on its own, and you’re just another player trying to survive. The developers did an incredible job creating this space. Especially the characters. They’re not just “NPCs” here — they’re real people, with backstories, pain, and personality. Some of them stick in your mind so much that you can’t forget them long after. The variety of dialogues, the nonlinearity of quests, the choices that truly matter — all of it allows you to live dozens of different stories. Each with its own drama, its own hopes, its own fears. The graphics are gorgeous. The level of detail in the characters, streets, cars, and buildings — I honestly haven’t seen anything quite like it before. Granted, I haven’t played that many games, but this one left a mark. I enjoyed it immensely. Sometimes I’d forget I was playing at all and just stop to take in the atmosphere: the glow of neon on a side street, reflections in puddles, the brooding sunset over the rooftops. Every location is a visual triumph. The music is a special treat. The soundtrack meshes so perfectly with the atmosphere that certain tracks became inseparably tied in my memory to specific moments, scenes, and even characters. I hear a song and it’s like I’m back there — on that shore, on that hill, or under that starlit sky. The music doesn’t just accompany the game — it speaks to you. Sometimes I miss those tracks, the ones that played during pivotal moments. They still give me goosebumps, because from the very first notes I remember exactly what was happening on screen. These melodies stayed with me, and I added them to my playlist. All it takes is closing my eyes and turning up the volume a little, and I’m right back in those unforgettable scenes of this vast world. The character progression system is quite broad — maybe even overloaded. To be honest, I never fully figured out every nuance. But those Mantis Blades? Absolute bliss. When you charge into a crowd and start slicing through enemies like a cyber-ninja, there’s no room for overthinking — just pure, honest gameplay joy. Night City itself is a full-fledged character. It has everything: the towers of megacorporations, slums, luxury apartments, underground clubs, brothels, ripperdoc clinics, street food stalls, gang territories. The city pulses with life. You can just wander, listen, observe. Go on a mission, or simply take a drive and stumble upon a random event — maybe another shootout. Or you can just pull over, turn on the radio, and suddenly it feels like you’re in a movie. The arsenal of weapons is enormous. Personally, I felt there were maybe too many — I stuck to a couple of favorites and sold the rest. But it’s still nice to know you can always find something new, try another playstyle, switch things up. I especially appreciated the three different origin stories. Whether you start as a Corpo, a Nomad, or a Street Kid defines how your story begins, what dialogues open up, and who you meet. And the endings? There are about a dozen. I’ve seen three so far on one playthrough, and I can’t wait to return someday and experience the others. It’s such a great feeling to know that your favorite game isn’t over — it’s just on pause. "Cyberpunk 2077" is not a perfect game, but it is an important one. It may be overloaded, sometimes chaotic, but it’s full of soul, energy, thought, and atmosphere. It’s a story you want to revisit. A world that terrifies you with its dangerous lore yet keeps calling you back. Characters you won’t forget. Music that became part of my own playlist. This isn’t just an adventure — it’s a slice of future life you want to live again. 10 out of 10
