

Ivan's Childhood, the first novel of Tarkovsky, represents the revival of the Soviet movie, while the real person of him was born in Andrei Rublyov. In that movie, he retrospected and surpassed all the ""Soviet Arts"" and rooted into Russia's cultural traditions. Since then, Tarkovsky gradually became the ""suspected director"" in the eyes of the authorities. For the west, he represented Russia's consciousness of mediation and pain, which was reflected in the works of Mirror and the Stalker.
